Hello there folks <3
Inspired by how much fun I’m having revisiting my personal photo archive from almost 9 years of political activism in Albania, I decided to start uploading them on WikiCommons, categorized by the events they were taken at. The idea is to create a historic chronology of grassroots movements in modern-day Albania.
After sharing this with @irdiismaili, we thought it would be great to organize some meetups with LibreLabs/Wikimedia Group to explore how we can collectively contribute to this topic.
We propose an initial meeting on September 12, 6:30–7:30pm.
Initial topics I have in mind, based on the archive:
• Workers’ movements in Albania (oil refining workers, garment workers, miners, call center workers, farmers, May 1st protests)
• Student movements in Albania (1991, 2011, 2013–2020)
• Feminist movements (March 8th, protests against femicid, guerrilla acts)
• Environmental movements (Vjosa, Nartë, Zall Gjocaj, Skavica, water protests in the South)
• Palestine solidarity
• Queer movements (3 phases) (Pride, artistic/activist actions, campaigns)
